Simon Guobadia Weds Real Housewives of Atlanta Star, Porsha Williams in a lavish Nigerian Ceremony

Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star and Nigerian millionaire, Simon Guobadia has officially tied the knot traditionally.

According to People, Williams, 41, and Guobadia, 57, held a traditional Nigerian native law and custom ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Atlanta. The outlet reported that there were about 250 guests. But Friday’s festivities was just the start as they also had an American ceremony on Saturday.

On the day of the Nigerian wedding, Williams had three outfit changes. For the ceremony, she wore a red gown by designer Lakimmy customary for an Edo bride (Guobadia is from Benin City in the Edo State of Nigeria). She also wore an okuku, a headpiece with Benin coral beads.

Later, she changed into two gowns by the designer Tabik: one in royal blue and one in gold.

For the feast, the couple catered to traditional Benin foods like snails, egusi, meat pies and okra stew from the local restaurant Little Lagos. To represent Williams’ southern roots, they also had fried lobster, steak and cornbread. As for the cake, they had a traditional Benin cake.

According to Williams, “I want them to feel like they have taken a flight and landed in Benin,” she said. “The whole room should be transformed with beautiful colors of browns and rose golds and tans and creams. It should be really, really beautiful and give you that authentic African feel.”

Williams previously revealed that she was planning three wedding ceremonies when the couple got married. The reality star explained that Guobadia gave her the reins to planning the ceremonies during an episode of Dish Nation.

“[Simon’s] African so we will have our native law and custom ceremony and a regular wedding, and then we’ll have another wedding at one of the houses that are out of the country,” Williams told co-hosts Rickey Smiley.

“Today, we asked for God’s blessings and that of our ancestors in our union in the purest Tradition form,” Guobadia captioned an Instagram snap of the pair on Friday. “I’m thankful I’m married to a woman that embraces my culture. Please join me in welcoming Porsha Guobadia to the Benin Kingdom. To God we give the Glory, and ‘Oba ghato kpere ise’ meaning, ‘Long may you reign; our king, amen.’”

Congratulations to the couple.
