Tinubu is Implementing Bold and Far-Reaching Reforms In Nigeria

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said its principal, President Bola Tinubu is implementing bold and far-reaching reforms required for the country’s economic recovery, long-term growth, and prosperity.

This was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Felix Morka, on Sunday in Abuja.

His comment follows the advice by the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor’s to Tinubu to throw in the towel in the face of the hardships experienced by Nigerians.

However, Morka said “A federal system like ours operates on the idea of shared, constitutionally delineated responsibilities among the three tiers of government: federal, state, and local governments.

“Effective governance requires collaboration and coordination among all three levels to deliver the dividends of democracy to citizens.

“By virtue of their membership in the National Economic Council and National Council of State, governors bear a solemn duty to proffer constructive ideas and solutions to the challenges of governance.”

Governors, like all citizens, have the right to free speech, he said, but they must exercise it responsibly.
He emphasised the importance of avoiding reckless statements that can incite passions and cause social upheaval.

He stated that comparing Nigeria to Venezuela, even given Nigeria’s current challenging economic and security contexts, smacks of righteous indignation.
Morka observed that rather than fulfilling their responsibilities as state chief executives, the PDP governors had transformed themselves into a band of doomsday vocalists.

This, he said, they were doing by raising their voices “to deafening decibels intended to drown the groans of their citizens battered by their critical inertia, ineptitude, and dismal performance.”

According to the APC spokesman the PDP governors’ call to Tinubu to throw in the towel was, therefore, nothing short of self-indictment.

He found it embarrassing that the same PDP governors, who had never justified the recent massive federal allocations to their states, were passing the buck.
Morka went on to say that since the buck stopped at the PDP governors’ table at the state level, they should practise what they preach by resigning from their positions.

This, he said, should be done rather than blaming the federal government for failing to mobilise massive resources available to improve people’s living conditions.
Morka stated that, despite the country’s challenges, Tinubu is taking responsibility and leading the country through this historic period of deep and long-term economic transformation.
“Our people are going through transient but painful difficulties that the administration is supremely determined to mitigate as these policies begin to yield desired results.

“Nigerians deserve to live in peace and security, with access to basic social and economic amenities.

“Our party urges patience during these turbulent times as our nation soars unstoppably to firmer ground and a more prosperous future,” Morka added.
