World Cup: Late equalizer against Spain gives Germany a lifeline

Niclas Fullkrug snatched a late equalizer for Germany in their second group-stage game against Spain to rekindle their hopes of making it to the next round of the World Cup.

Hansi Flick’s team was hanging on a very thin and dangerous thread, heading into the game against Spain, following a surprise defeat to Japan in their opening game.

After playing out a barren draw in the first half of the game, substitute, Alvaro Morata broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute.

And Germany looked set for another group stage elimination when Fullkrug came to the rescue in the 83rd minute.

With Japan losing to Costa Rica in the other game of the group, Germany, despite having one point, still, stand a chance of scaling through to the next round,

defeat Costa Rica in their final Group E game and hope Japan does not get the best of  Spain.
