APC Governors Condoles Zamfara on Attack

Governors under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have paid a visit to the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, over the recent killings in the state.

Bandits had last week,  invaded some villages in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the state killing over 58 persons which had raised concern over the security challenges both home and abroad.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, noted that the attack had displaced more than 10,000 people.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, and his Katsina State counterpart, Aminu Masari had visited the state to commiserate with the government and its people on the ugly incident. Bagudu who is also the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum,  lead the visit.

Governor Bagudu who spoke at the Government House in Gusau, yesterday commended the role of the federal and state government in combating security challenges in the nation but stressed, however, that massive cooperation is vital in combating the situation.

He added that in the last few years, a lot has been done in addressing the security challenges in the country, and more resources, community mobilization, support is needed to total eradicate the terrorists.

In his remarks, Governor Masari noted that while the government is carrying out its part in ensuring that it curtails the security challenges, the masses should complement them by providing reliable information to authorities to enable them to fish out the perpetrators of the act.

“We are all in this together, nobody is left out. We must conquer, reclaim our territories,” the Katsina Governor said.

“We have no choice, we must stand up. We need to mobilise ourselves and cannot allow some few individuals to totally disrupt our own lives, kill us, destroy our economic fortunes.”

Meanwhile, the Governor of Zamfara Bello Matawalle, in his reaction noted that he will keep to his word by ensuring that the state return to normalcy.

“We will continue to do everything within our powers to achieve our objective of restoring peace in our domain,” he said.

He added that the campaign by the military against bandits is already recording success in the north-western state.
