Host nation, Qatar, crash out of World Cup

Qatar has been eliminated from the World Cup after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Senegal in their second group-stage game.

It’s a second defeat for the hosts who lost their opening game, 2-0, to Ecuador and sit at the bottom of group A with no points from two games.

Meanwhile, in the other game of the group, the Netherlands were held to a 1-1 draw by a stubborn Ecuador side.

Louis Van Gaal’s men are tied on four points with Ecuador, while Senegal is third with three points, and will take on Ecuador in their last game of the group stage.
