AFCON: Egypt seals last 16 place, as Ghana fumbles

Egypt are through to the last 16 of the ongoing AFCON after scrambling out a dramatic 2-2 draw against Cape Verde to finish second in Group B.

The Pharaohs looked set to land in third place in the log, as they had been trailing 1-0 behind Cape Verde at halftime.

However, after the break, just on the hour mark, Egypt grabbed an equalizer and in the 93rd minute, Mostafa Mohamed, scored what was thought would be the winner, but Silva Teixeira Jr, brought Verde on level terms right at stoppage time.

Egypt was still in view to finish third before one the best drama so far in the tournament ensued, with Mozambique coming from 2-0 down to equalizer and bringing things to 2-2 against Ghana, much to the favour of Egypt.

Ghana on the other side ended up finishing third in group B, and will not hope on results from other groups to help them qualify for the last 16 as best losers.
