Davido Astonished as ‘Timeless’ Breaks Several Streaming Records
Afrobeat star, Davido is in awe of the record-breaking milestone he attained with his newly released album, ‘Timeless’.
Davido released his fourth studio album, ‘Timeless’ on March 31, 2023. Davido re-enforced why he is viewed as one of the biggest African artists in the world today with the 17-track album.
Barely 24 hours after release, it amassed 12 million streams on the global streaming platform, Audiomack, making it the first album to have attained those numbers within the first day of its release ever on the platform.
Audiomack Africa made this known in a post on its official Twitter page.
Audiomack wrote; “RECORD-BREAKING: @davido’s #Timeless had over 12 MILLION streams in its first 24 hours, more than any other album on Audiomack, ever! 🏆 🎉”
‘Timeless’ also shattered Boomplay’s record for the most first-day stream total. Its 7.25M streaming on day one beat Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” as the record for the first day(3.38M).
With the album charting in 102 countries, peaking at number 26, and achieving a new African top of number 2 in the United States, Davido has already smashed multiple first-day records across Boomplay, Spotify, and Apple music charts throughout the world.
Following just 3 days of its release, ‘Timeless’ has achieved the under-listed:
1. ‘Timeless’ surpasses the previous record debut week total of 4.89M by Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ on Spotify Nigeria on its first day of release. On March 31, ‘Timeless’ had 4.91 million streams.
2. The album’s first single, ‘OVER DEM,’ smash the all-time record for most single-day streams for any song in Spotify Nigeria history, more than double the previous mark (460K).
3. ‘Timeless’ appeared in the Apple Music Album charts with 102 nations 24 hours after its release.
4. The album ‘Timeless’ smashes the record for the most first-day streams on Boomplay. — It’s 7.25 million streams on the first day break the previous record established by Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ (3.38M).
5. ‘Timeless’ leads the Apple Music Album list in 26 countries.
6. Timeless’ landed at No. 2 on the United Kingdom Apple Music list, a first for an African album.
Apple Music announced via its official Twitter page; “@davido is breaking global records. The Nigerian superstar’s #Timeless had the most first-day streams ever for an African album on Apple Music.”
