Europa League Quarterfinals: Arsenal, Slavia Prague share the spoils in the first tie

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal failed to hold on to a narrow one-goal lead against Slavia Prague in their Europa League Quarter-finals first leg tie in Thursday as a dramatic late equalizer late the Gunners’ hope to qualifying to the Semi’s hanging on the line.

After playing out a goalless first half, substitute Nicolas Pepe broke the deadlock in the 86th minute, and the hotel team thought they’d earned a much-needed winner.

But that was not to be, as Tomas Holes’ injury-time header salvaged a vital away goal for Slavia Prague.

The second leg of the tie takes in Prague, the Czech Republic, next Thursday, and Arsenal will need to put out a more efficient performance if they hope to progress to the semi-finals.
