Hair vendor tenders deep apology to Phyna over rented wig allegations
An Instagram hair vendor, Dami Olaore, the owner of Dbeauty mogul has tendered a heartfelt apology to former Big Brother Naija star, Phyna after accusing her of refusing to return a wig she had supposedly rented for a movie premiere she attended.
Back in December 2023, Phyna made headlines over an alleged refusal to return the wig she rented which was worn to the premiere. She was soon invited by the police on the matter, and she detailed the invitation on her social media page at the time.
She said: “Yesterday, my younger sister called me and said I’ve visitors in my house. I asked who they were and she said two policemen, the hairstylist and one woman. I asked who the woman was but she said she didn’t know the woman. And they dropped a letter. Because it’s from the police I want to know what to do. It reads, ‘This is the Nigeria Police. Invitation to the police.’ They now put my name and my address. Then it continued, ‘From the DPO Nigeria Police Ogudu.’ I don’t know where Ogudu is, but I will find out.”
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Phyna posted a petition to her X account which was dated December 22, 2023. In the document, she stressed that the vendor’s allegations assassinated her character and brought disrepute to her name as well as her brand. She then requested that the police intervene.
In the petition, she narrated that indeed, she rented a hair for Funke Akindele’s movie premiere A Tribe Called Judah in Lagos. As a celeb and one who wants to look good, she contacted the services of a fashion stylist Teniola Azeez Olalekan and she paid for his services.
According to the reality star, she has been constantly cyberbullied and cyberstalked by the hair vendor, Dami, and she wants an end to it.
In addition, she attached posts of the accused in her petition which was addressed to the deputy commissioner of police, Panti, Yaba, Lagos. She captioned her post on Instagram:
“For some reason in December, I was falsely accused of what I know nothing about…. And I have been constantly bullied and embarrassed over a rented wig, with the help of the Nigeria police I am pleased to say justice is coming.”
A few hours later, Phyna, in a series of posts on her Instagram page, shared a video and printed note of an apology from the vendor to obtain her freedom, as she was said to be in police custody.
Speaking in the video, the hair vendor said: “My name is Dammy. I’m the lady that called out Phyna for the rented wig. I admit I overreacted by doing so and I want to tender a sincere apology to her. It wasn’t my intention to dent her image; I sincerely apologise.”
