Kim Kardashian doesn’t plan to change her last name, ‘West’despite her divorce with Kanye and Kanye’s proposed name change to ‘Ye’.
TMZ reported that Kim will not be changing her last name. Sources close to the couple also told the outlet that Kim “will not eliminate West from her name” and that “Kim feels it’s important for her to keep the same last name as her 4 children.” Meaning, she and Kanye don’t intend to change the last names of North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
It was also reported that Kim is super supportive of Ye’s name change, though she reportedly thinks people will still “recognize him as Kanye West.”
Kim’s decision to keep West in her name comes as Kanye has filed to have it removed from his own moniker, as he is looking to change his full name – Kanye Omari West – to simply Ye.
The rapper said in legal documents that his decision to change his name is for “personal” reasons, but he did not give any further information.
Back in 2018, West released his eighth studio album, Ye, and tweeted “The being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
He also talked about the meaning behind Ye with radio host Big Boy, explaining “I wanted something to match my energy. I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means ‘you.’ So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”
