La Liga; New Year victory sends Real Madrid to table top
Real Madrid continued their fine run in their title defense with a 2-0 over Celta Vigo’s top move to the top of the La Liga table ahead of second-placed city rivals; Atletico has three outstanding games.
The visitors hadn’t lost a game since November 21, but they posed no threat for the Blanco’s who took the lead six minutes into the game via a Lucas Vazquez header from a Marco Asensio’s assist.
After the break, Casemiro assisted Asensio, who doubled the tally for the champions.
