Spain succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in Nations League group A2 encounter against Switzerland.
The defeat, Spain’s first since October 2018, saw them drop from the top of the table, dealing a blow to their goal of qualifying for next year’s Nations League finals.
Manuel Akanji’s header put Switzerland ahead in the 21st-minute.
Jordi Alba equalized for Luis Enrique’s side 10 minutes after the break, and barely three minutes later, Breel Embolo, bagged what would eventually be the winner for the Swiss.
For next game, La Roja will take on Portugal, who replaced them at the top of the table, following a 4-0 trashing of Czech Republic.
To qualify, Spain will have to take all three points in the encounter.
