Nigerian striker, Boniface makes history with Bayer Leverkusen

Super Eagles forward, Victor Boniface was on the score sheet as Bayer Leverkusen trashed Werder Bremen 5-0 to win the Bundesliga for the first time in their history, a feat they achieved with five games left to go and no loss recorded, yet.

Boniface made no mistakes from the spot to put Xabi Alonso’s side in front in the first half and on course for a historic moment.

After the break, Granit Xhaka doubled the lead, then Florian Wirtz scored a hat trick to seal an incredible run for Leverkusen who have now interrupted Bayern Munich’s dominance in the German Bundesliga with the latter having won it the past 11 seasons in a row.

Jubilant Leverkusen fans flooded the pitch even before the final whistle, as they were unable to restrain themselves.

Yet to record a defeat in all competitions this season, Alonso’s side are in pole position for a possible treble with the German Cup and Europa League still in view.
