Pregnant Rihanna honored with a statue at Met Gala 2022. See her reaction
Pop sensation Rihanna, who is expecting her first child with rapper-boyfriend A$AP Rocky, could not attend the Met Gala this year but she still managed to steal the show on the fashion’s biggest night.
Rihanna has been a regular at the Met Gala in recent years, providing several standout looks that continuously nail the fundraiser’s themes. While she may have been absent from this year’s Met Gala red carpet, the star’s presence was still very much felt inside The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she was honored with a statue.
As part of the surprise, organized by Vogue in collaboration with the museum, Rihanna was immortalized in marble, modeled on the recent cover shoot she did for the May issue of the magazine. For one night only, the figure was placed where the statue of Eirene (The Personification of Peace) stands.
Sharing a video on Instagram, the magazine said: “Eirene (The Personification of Peace) is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover.”
Rihanna, clearly thrilled by the honor, reposted the video with the caption, “shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”
The statue is straight off the cover photoshoot she did for Vogue magazine. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, however, has not posted anything regarding the statue tribute yet.
