Supreme Court Reserves Binani’s Appeal
The appeal by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Adamawa state, Senator Aisha Dahiru, has been reserved by the Supreme Court.
Binani had challenged the outcome of the governorship election that was held in Adamawa State on March 18.
Following the adoption of each party’s last argument papers, the five-member panel of the highest court presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro, deferred the case for judgment.
With the assistance of Chief Akinolu Olujimi (SAN) on their legal team, the appellants expressly asked the court to remove Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri from office.
They asked the Supreme Court to overturn the Court of Appeal’s and the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s concurrent rulings that had affirmed Fintiri’s reelection.
According to Binani, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, or REC, rightfully declared her the winner since she received the majority of legitimate votes cast in the election.
Fintiri, however, urged the Supreme Court to reject the petition and uphold his election victory through his attorney, Mr. Damian Dodo (SAN).
