UCL: Real Madrid overcome City to set up Semi finals against Bayern

Real Madrid secured a dramatic 4-3 penalty win over Man City to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they will trade tackles with Bayern Munich, who defeated Arsenal to book a spot. 

Rodrygo gave Madrid a 12-minute lead which they held on to till 14 minutes to stoppage when Kevin de Bruyne took advantage of a not-so-properly cleared effort by Rudiger and fired home an equalizer.

City were the most dominant side of the night and tried to get ahead, but Madrid held on to keep them at bay, and with no side in front after extra time, penalty shootouts decided the game.

Midfield maestro, Luka Modric took and missed Madrid’s first kick, but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, saved Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic’s penalties, leaving the decisive kick in the hands of Rudiger, who clinched it for Real Madrid 

The defeat brought an end to City’s treble chase, as they now have just the Premier League and FA Cup to vie for. 

While Madrid is up against Bayern in one semifinal encounter, PSG, who eliminated Barcelona, will take on Borussia Dortmund, who saw off Atlético Madrid, in the other.
