Manchester City to face PSG in Champions League Semifinals

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will take on Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris St-Germain in the champions league’s semifinals after knocking out Borussia Dortmund Wednesday’s quarterfinals clash thanks to a comeback win in Germany.

Boasting a 2-1 lead from the first leg, City saw them lagging and needing to get something out of the tie when 17-year-old England international Jude Bellingham curled in a superb shot to give the host the lead, placing them in a qualifying position with a 2-2 aggregate, based on the away goal rule.

Hit by the realization of a possible elimination, the Citizens applied as much presence as they could muster. Still, the much-needed breakthrough didn’t surface till early into the second half, when Emre Can get penalized for a handball, and Mahrez made no mistakes from the spot to send the Citizens back in front.

Pep’s boys were pretty much on safe ground. Still, Phil Foden solidified the win, which saw City qualifying for the Champions League Semifinals for the first time under current boss Pep Guardiola; they’re second since 2016.

The Semifinals tie between City and PSG is one to watch as both teams are eagerly vying for their first-ever Champions League trophy.
