Senator Abbo Speaks On Tribunal Judgement

The Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo has blasted Senate President Godswill for plotting his removal by the Court of Appeal.

Abbo said this yesterday at his residence in Abuja, hours after the Court of Appeal nullified his senatorial election.

An Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, earlier yesterday had sacked Abbo. A three-judge panel of the appellate court unanimously overturned the tribunal’s earlier ruling declaring Abbo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the legitimate winner of the senatorial seat.

While urging his supporters to maintain their composure, Abbo called the decision to fire him a coup against democracy.

The senator argued that he won the election even though the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Amos Yohanna was declared the victor by the court.

According to him, he defeated the PDP candidate with a margin of 11,000 votes.

Speaking further, Abbo said the senate president also has plans to remove former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and four other senators for not backing his senate presidency bid.

Meanwhile, Senate President Akpabio has distanced himself from Abbo’s political travail and being behind his removal from the Red Chamber.

The Senate President’s communications aide, Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, claimed that his boss had no involvement in the court decision that removed Abbo from the Senate.
