Heartbreak for Croatia as Spain wins Nations League on penalties

Croatia suffered yet another heartbreak as they missed out on the Nations League title in a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat to Spain.

Having finished as runners-up at the 2018 World Cup and securing a third-place finish at Qatar last year, Croatia had hoped that this would be their moment to win their first international trophy, but, yet again, it wasn’t, and sadly so.

The Nations League is Spain’s first international accolade in 11 years and the triumph makes them only the second country to win the World Cup, European Championship, and Nations League after France.
