La Liga: Varane’s brace guides Real Madrid to come back victory

Real Madrid had to fight from behind to beat bottom table Huesca, thanks to a brace from French defender Raphael Varane.

After a barren first half, Javi Galan gave Huesca a rather shocking lead in the 48th minute before Varane leveled things up seven minutes later.

The French man who was quite substantial at the back throughout the game, sealed his hero of the match status with the winning goal in the 84th minute, handing the reigning champions an all-important three points and easing off the pressure on his coach and compatriot, Zinedine Zidane, at least for the time being.

With the result, Real are second on the log, seven points behind the first-place city rival Atletico Madrid, who have two games at hand and three points ahead of Barcelona, who are fourth.

Huesca 1 – 2 Real Madrid

Levante 2 – 2 Granada

Elche 2 – 2 Villarreal
